    Best Ku band Lnb

Most 0.3, 0.2 & 0.1 Lnb's are very good so long as you buy it from a reputable outlet like the Alsat Shop you will get a Quality Lnb so if you need more signal a bigger dish is the answer,
Here are the results of my recent test of the best currently available 40mm collar Lnb's,
    1/ DarkGold 0.1
    2/ DarkGold 0.1 twin output,
    3/ Titanium 0.2 Edition 2
    4/ Sharp 0.3
    5/ MTI Blue line 0.3
    6/ MTI Blue line 0.6
Contrary to some popular held beliefs the twin output DarkGold 0.1 performed as well as the single output DarkGold 0.1

The Signal Quality gain between the 1st & last Lnb's is marginal on the Major Satellite positions combined with a 100cm dish you will get good reception on these in the South of the UK,
Obviously the 28.2 east,19.2east & 13 east slots can be received with a 50cm in the UK,

These are better with a 100cm dish & a Quality Lnb as shown above:-
    45 east Intelsat 12
    42 east Turksat,
    40 east Express AM-1
    39 east Hellasat,
    36 east Sesat,
    26 east Badr
    16 east Eutel W-2
    10 east Eutel W-1
    9 east Eurobird-9
    7 east Eutel W3A
    4.8 east Sirius-4
    0.8 west Thor-5
    1 west Intelsat 10-02
    4 west Amos-2 & 3
    5 west AtlanticBird-3
    7 west Nilesat {vertical transponder's}
    8 west AtlanticBird-2 & Telecom 2D
    11 west Express A3
    12.5 west AtlanticBird-1
    15 west Telstar-12
    18 west Intelsat 901
    22 west NSS-7
    24.5 west Intelsat 905
    27.5 west Intelsat 907
    30 west Hispasat
    31.5 west Intelsat 801
    34.5 west Intelsat 903
    43 west Intelsat 3R
    45 west Intelsat 1R
    58 west Intelsat 9

There are a couple of satellites between 72 east & 53 east that I cannot view due to obstructions these satellites have a UK/European footprint if you can view them please give us some feedback,

Don't forget to look at the footprint on the satellite charts at
    HTML Code:
    lyngsat.com & flysat.com
if you are not inside the intended coverage of a satellite you cannot be sure of good reception even if you have the best Lnb & dish set up.

Don't forget to read the setting guides on this site to get the best from your satellite equipment.

    Fixed Dish Lnb test

To give you a good idea what the best Lnb's are capable of I have tested 5 of the most popular & some older Lnb's to see how much better the current Lnb's are,

    Mesh Dish= 80cm wide x 90cm high>>>Receiver Technomate TM5200usb
    Satellite:-Eutelsat W-1 @ 10 east frequency 10970V 4167 APTN news feed id = UP4.

    1/DarkGold 0.1 = 65% signal quality,
    2/Titanium 0.2 = 62% -------------,(2nd Edition)
    3/Sharp 0.3 .... = 60 to 61% -------
    4/MTI Blue 0.3 = 60 to 61% -------
    5/Invacom 0.3 = 58% -------------
    6/MTI Blue 0.6 = 54% ------------
    7/Cambridge 0.6= 53% ------------

I also have a Titanium 0.2 (1st edition no longer available) the signal readings were the same as the New DarkGold proving that the DarkGold is the best currently available 40mm collar Ku band Lnb for your system.

No dowt the Darkgold will perform very well from the look of it but a quality reading on a receiver is hardly conclusive for a test.

Did you test the dBuV, MER, C/N, bBER, aBER and Noise figure ? or have you just posted the quality reading for the non -techies?

    Just out of interest

Lnb's for Ku bands only I have no plans for C band or Ka band Lnb's at the moment,

The test is quite straight forward to find the most stable low noise Lnb on a conventional Dish set up,
Purely a guide for the enthusiast as my previous best Lnb guide proved very popular with over 11,500 hits by our member's seeking advice that the average person can follow without blinding them with science for non Techies.

that's fair but a test report for the more technical showing the measurements I posted would of also been of some interest and more conclusive too

I see what you mean my test took 4 hours to set up & double check readings, I think the test that you envisaged would take considerably longer.
